Short weeks are nice. This whirlwind, now-you-see-it-now-you-don't three day blur sets up a a trip north on 75 to Georgia and a host of relatives. There will be, according to promotional material distributed earlier in the week, plenty of "sittin' and eatin'". Count me in!

A fine weekend it was, even though UM couldn't hold off the hard-charging Buckeyes. Saturday morning was a fine ride through Myakka River State Park, nachos during the game, and then Die Another Day at the late show. Sunday I turned 22, with minimal pomp and no cake. But, phone calls from all over made it a nice day and I got some good frame ideas on an afternoon venture through Sarasota. Now a short week and I'm truckin' north for the holiday.

The cat is gone and the mice are going crazy. Someday I'm going to stop wishing I were older, and on that day I'll look back on my lunch hours spent at boattraderonline.com and know why I did it. In the meantime, I'm getting tired of my trusty campchair-A-lounger and the 2.5-4.5 weeks until my sofa arrives are just seeming longer and longer.

Rain and cold on Saturday, but the Buccaneers on Sunday. Went to Tampa Bay with Tim Knowles & Co. to see the game - had a BBQ tailgate party outside the stadium and then watched the Bucs win a good one against Carolina. The game was good, but I'm not so sure that the flyover by four F-14's just after the Star Spangled Banner might not have been my highlight.

Something in my knee seems to be on the fritz. Apparently Baz Luhrman was right: wear sunscreen and be kind to your knees, you'll miss them when they are gone. This weekend should be all about Rodin and N.C. Wyeth at Ringling, but if the weather is cool and nice maybe I'll take the 800 and go hit some dirt trails for a change...that'd be easier on my knees than an art gallery, I'd say.

An awesome evening last night with Chris, Nancy, Alissa, and Megan. Ate manicotti, had some wine, watched a tiny bit of sailing and played Cranium. It is always fun to be with a fun crowd, I'd say.

I guess sometimes 'new and improved' comes up a little shy on the 'improved' side. My case study here: WinAMP 3. It still isn't too steady on my newly XP-ed computer, and many of the features that made v2.5 - v2.85 worth having have gone by the wayside. Progress my foot! Somehow techno-gadgetry and visual improvements have stifled true product development. (New versions of my favorite applications are improved though, so I hold out some hope for Nullsoft to recover.)

Apparently it is supposed to cool down soon, but in the mean time I'm dying here. And that's just the weather! Why can't Bill Gates be good enough to his friends over at iomega that my ZIP drive will run on my newly-XP'ed computer? The frustration mounts with driver files that are 8.2MB - usually I'd use my ZIP drive to transfer a file that big. Catch 22? Most definitely.

Tried to pedal my way to Anna Maria this weekend (twice) but was thwarted by flat tires times three. So instead, I bought the sofa I always wanted but could never have...it'll be here in time for Christmas. In other news, it is HOT again. I had had my AC off, but that all ended Saturday when highs climbed back into the 90s. Inconceivable.

I think I've become an Eminem fan. Let's face the (ahem) music here: he tells it how it is, blasts people who don't make their own bed, and his urban beats still rock the casbah. Lose yourself indeed - and bring on the weekend.

Thoroughly enjoyed the boat show this past weekend. Highlights were the new Tiaras, baia magnifica and zero, a visit to Derecktor's Florida yard, and a tour of Mit-sea-Ah. Also attended the Lurssen/Beck's VIP party on Friday and had a pretty good time - even at the associated pig races. Somehow rich folks and pig races don't seem to line up, but the Beck's girls were there and a pretty tight blues band played and they served barbequed ribs, so how can you go wrong?
